The upcoming Hadoop events (Hadoop Summit, Spark Summit) will create great opportunities for our industry to discuss the ups and downs of Hadoop. I hope that, by now, you’ve had the chance to assess your Hadoop Maturity here and that you can walk into these events with a more informed perspective.

- Hadoop Hype? In a recent market share report, Gartner reported the Hadoop market had almost doubled between 2013 and 2014. The report is called All Software Markets: Worldwide, 2014 and was published on March 31, 2015. What’s most interesting about this stat is that the report covered “software only” revenue for the top 3 vendors (Cloudera, HortonWorks and MapR). If we look at the same stats from 2012 to 2014, the monetization of the Hadoop opportunity for these three vendors has more than tripled…
- Chief Data Executives. Opportunities and Threats. Most of the discussions to date have been about Data Scientists. But, what should business executives do?
